Photographer of the Month – Chris Clor
Christopher
Clor's black and white images draw attention to the subtle interplay
of textures and light. Spanning diverse subject matter with special attention
paid to the natural world, Chris works in digital format, which allows
for a wider dynamic range. His portfolio of works runs the gamut from
glossy computer generated vehicles produced for major Detroit advertising
agencies to sweeping black and white landscapes of Yosemite National
Park. In 1984, he founded Clor Studios, a premier photographic and computer-imaging
studio. In 1993, the studio expanded its capabilities to provide 3D rendered
images and animation.
Chris first discovered Piezography inks as he searched for a unique way to reproduce his fine art prints on watercolor paper with his first ink jet printer, an Epson 3000. Today, Chris uses an Epson 7600 with the ErgoSoft StudioPrint RIP and PiezoTone inks to produce his fine art black and white portfolio and prints.
"With these inks, there's a richness and dimensional quality to the prints," Chris said. "I've tried other quad tone inks and systems and found Piezography yields the best results."
Chris is best known for his high-end advertising images, but his fine art portfolio recently garnered rave reviews from his clients.
"Across the board, the reaction has been great. Advertising clients have even chosen to work with us based on the quality of our black and white book."
